Juan de Dios Mellado to continue as Director General of RTVA

The Andalusian Parliament has approved the continuation of Juan de Dios Mellado as the Director General of Radio y Televisión de Andalucía (RTVA). The decision was reached by the Consultative Commission on Appointments, with support from the PP and Vox parties, while opposition parties including PSOE, Adelante Andalucía, and Por Andalucía voted against the proposal.

During his appearance, Mellado defended his management since 2019, highlighting staff stabilization, audience growth, and the development of a new digital public service. He also outlined goals such as the recovery of Canal Sur 2 and the establishment of a new strategic plan.

Mellado addressed concerns regarding plurality and a sexual harassment allegation involving the former CEO of the production company ADM. He stated that RTVA had no prior knowledge of the complaint and that internal and external mechanisms were implemented immediately upon learning of the situation to prevent future occurrences.
