Juan de Dios Peña Rojas installed as Bishop of Barinas

Monsignor Juan de Dios Peña Rojas has officially assumed his role as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Barinas. The installation was marked by a large procession of faithful traveling from Mérida to the episcopal seat, passing through locations such as Barinitas and Plaza Zamora.

The solemn canonical installation ceremony was presided over by the Apostolic Nuncio in Venezuela, Alberto Ortega Martín, and included participation from various archbishops and bishops from across the country. During his address, Monsignor Peña Rojas called for unity within the local Church to strengthen community faith.

The welcoming Eucharist was held at the Our Lady of the Pillar Cathedral. Despite a sudden power outage during the liturgical service, the ceremony continued. The community expressed support for the new bishop as he succeeds Monsignor Jesús Alfonso Guerrero to lead the diocese.
