Juan Diego García prepares for Para Taekwondo World Championship

Mexican para taekwondo athlete Juan Diego García López is preparing for the Para Taekwondo World Championship Muju 2026, scheduled to take place in South Korea from November 20 to 22. The 23-year-old athlete, a gold medalist from the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics and bronze medalist from Paris 2024, is entering his fourth world championship competition.

García López recently secured a gold medal at the Paris Grand Prix, an event reserved for the top 12 ranked competitors in each category. This victory earned him 60 points toward the world rankings, helping him recover his standing after a year-long absence due to injury. He expects his updated ranking to place him between fifth and sixth globally.

The athlete noted that the Paris Grand Prix served as a vital opportunity to test new strategies against elite competitors. He is currently training at the CNAR under the guidance of coaches María del Rosario Espinoza and Jannet Alegría.
