Juan Diego García wins gold at Muju World Grand Prix

Mexican parataekwondo athlete Juan Diego García López won the gold medal in the K44 -70 kg category at the 2026 Muju World Grand Prix in South Korea. This victory marks his successful return to international competition following a six-month absence due to an injury sustained in February during the U.S. Open in Las Vegas.

García López, a double Paralympic medalist with a gold from Tokyo 2020 and a bronze from Paris 2024, noted that his preparation was highly specific to address both physical recovery and the mental challenge of overcoming insecurity after his injury.

This performance serves as a precursor to the 2026 Para Taekwondo World Championships, which are scheduled to take place in South Korea from November 20 to 22.
