Juan Domingo Perón: Commemorations mark anniversary of birth
Commemorations are being held to mark the 131st anniversary of the birth of Juan Domingo Perón, the former Argentine president and leader of the Justicialist National Movement. Perón's political career was defined by the implementation of social welfare programs and labor reforms, including the 1949 Constitutional reform which introduced social rights and women's suffrage.
In La Pampa, Governor Sergio Ziliotto invoked Perón's legacy, emphasizing the importance of defending social and labor rights. Ziliotto highlighted Perón's role in the provincialization of La Pampa, a process supported by Eva Perón, which allowed the region to transition from a national territory to a province with the right to self-governance. The Governor also called for a gathering on October 17 to honor these historical social conquests.
