Juan Gabriel documentary to release via Netflix and TelevisaUnivision

A new documentary titled ‘Juan Gabriel: Debo, puedo y quiero’ will be released through an unprecedented partnership between TelevisaUnivision and Netflix. The project aims to honor the late singer Alberto Aguilera Valadez, marking ten years since his passing.

Directed by María José Cuevas, the four-episode series utilizes hundreds of hours of personal home video and cassette recordings captured by the artist himself from the 1970s until his death in 2016. The footage provides an intimate look at his life as a father, friend, and professional, featuring restored digital material and spontaneous conversations.

The distribution schedule includes broadcasts on Las Estrellas on September 12 and 19, followed by a free month of streaming on ViX starting September 20. The series is scheduled to return exclusively to Netflix on October 23, targeting audiences in Mexico and the Hispanic community in the United States.
