Juan Gandán releases salsa version of Aznavour's classic “La Bohème”

The Strasbourg‑based salsa ensemble Juan Gandán has issued a new salsa arrangement of Charles Aznavour’s iconic 1965 song “La Bohème”. The track serves as the first single from the group’s forthcoming debut album No somos de acá, scheduled for release in October 2026, and is now available on major streaming platforms.

The recording was produced and engineered by Latin Grammy‑winner José Mendoza, with additional production input from Rodrigo Rodríguez (“Rodry‑Go”) and Joan Sterchi (“Rino”). Sessions took place across France, Switzerland, Spain and the United States, reflecting the trans‑Atlantic collaboration behind the project. The original “La Bohème”, co‑written by Aznavour and Jacques Plante, remains a celebrated French chanson that reflects nostalgic memories of Montmartre’s artistic quarter.

Juan Gandán’s version aims to bridge French chanson and Latin American salsa, preserving the emotional core of the song while adding bolero‑salsa rhythms and a robust brass section.
