Juan Gil Navarro confronts theater audience over mobile phone use
Actor Juan Gil Navarro sparked a viral debate after interrupting a performance of the play ‘Misery’ at the Teatro Metropolitan to reprimand audience members for using mobile phones and camera flashes.
Addressing the crowd, Gil Navarro expressed frustration over the recurring issue, stating, “Paying does not give you the right to do whatever you want in a theater, and much less to disrespect those who are paying attention.” He urged spectators to not only turn off their devices but to refrain from taking photos entirely to maintain respect for the performers and the production.
The incident has divided social media opinion, with some users supporting the actor's stance on theater etiquette while others criticized his outburst. The play is an adaptation of the Stephen King novel, currently performing on Corrientes Avenue.
