Juan Grabois defends congressional outburst and criticizes Milei

Argentine Deputy Juan Grabois of the Unión por la Patria party has defended his recent heated confrontation with ruling party members in the Chamber of Deputies. Responding to calls for his expulsion, Grabois argued that the officialist party, La Libertad Avanza, lacks the two-thirds majority required to remove him.

Grabois criticized President Javier Milei, accusing the administration of normalizing aggressive behavior and psychological terror against opponents, journalists, and artists. He characterized the current political climate as one where the Executive has set a precedent for disrespect, making criticisms of his own manners hypocritical.

Additionally, Grabois challenged a government sovereignty project, labeling it a ‘Trojan horse.’ He specifically criticized provisions that could impose criminal and economic sanctions on companies extracting resources from the Malvinas Islands without authorization, arguing that certain chapters could lead to a ‘dictatorship’ by criminalizing opinions and creating a security agency.
