Authorities in Tamaulipas have arrested Juan Jesús “M”, an instructor and former employee of the Marina Doenitz Militarized Academy in Ciudad Madero. He is accused of aggravated rape and equivalent family violence against an adolescent. The arrest took place in Altamira on August 27, 2026.

This development is part of the ongoing investigation into the death of 13-year-old Dafne Zapata Quintos, who died during a summer camp at the academy in July. An autopsy determined the cause of death was asphyxia by submersion, and the case is being investigated as a feminicide.

Juan Jesús “M” is the brother of Estrellita “M”, an academy instructor who is already in custody for her alleged involvement in the feminicide.
