Juan José Millás receives XVII José Luis Sampedro Prize

Writer and journalist Juan José Millás has been awarded the XVII José Luis Sampedro Prize during the Getafe Negro crime novel festival. The ceremony took place at the Espacio Mercado de Getafe.

During his acceptance speech, Millás reflected on the solitary nature of writing and joked that people write because they have a 'problem with reality.' He paid tribute to the late José Luis Sampedro, noting his ability to integrate economics, life, and literature. Millás expressed that receiving an award bearing Sampedro's name is an immense and intimidating honor.
