Juan Latorre elected Jaén president as Andalusia faces PP‑Vox coalition talks
Juan Latorre, a socialist and the secretary‑general of the PSOE in Jaén, took office on 9 June 2026 as president of the Provincial Council of Jaén, succeeding Paco Reyes who moved to the Andalusian Parliament. In his inauguration speech Latorre said his agenda will focus on boosting employment and improving ties with the province’s many small municipalities.
Meanwhile, the newly elected Andalusian Parliament will meet on 11 June 2026. With no clear majority after the recent election, centre‑right leader Juanma Moreno is under pressure to negotiate a governing pact with the far‑right Vox party. Meetings between Moreno and Vox figures, including a recent dialogue with party leader Manuel Gavira, are expected to determine the investiture candidate within the next two weeks.
