Baja California Sur legislators demand action on power outages and healthcare

The Baja California Sur Congress has unanimously approved an exhortation to the Federal Government to address persistent electricity blackouts that have affected various areas of the state for approximately two months. Proposed by Deputy Lupita Saldaña Cisneros, the measure calls on President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to instruct the Ministry of Energy and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to intervene and resolve these recurring failures.

The agreement also requests that the CFE explain the causes of the shortages, detail preventive actions, and provide updates on the progress of two solar thermal plants and one combined cycle plant projected for Los Cabos. Legislators emphasized the need for increased investment and infrastructure modernization to reduce the vulnerability of the state's electrical system.

In a separate regional matter, the State Congress has issued a call to IMSS Bienestar and the Ministry of Health to ensure the Santa Rosalía General Hospital in Mulegé is equipped with a second functional hemodialysis machine by 2027. Deputy Teresita de Jesús Valentín Vázquez argued that the request is necessary to ensure territorial equity and prevent families from traveling hundreds of kilometers to access essential medical services.
