Juan Manuel Serrano summoned to verify mobile phone cloning in Leire Díez case

Juan Manuel Serrano, the former chief of staff to Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and former president of Correos, has been summoned by Audiencia Nacional Judge Santiago Pedraz. The hearing, scheduled for August 18, is intended to verify the cloning of Serrano's mobile phone, which was previously intercepted by the Guardia Civil's Central Operative Unit (UCO).

Serrano is a central figure in the 'Leire Díez case,' an investigation involving two primary branches. The first examines an alleged network designed to rig public contracts for the Spanish Society of Industrial Participations (SEPI). The second investigates a purported plot to obstruct judicial proceedings that could negatively impact the PSOE or the Spanish government.

Judge Pedraz has assumed full control of the investigation following the resignation of a previous magistrate. The probe has identified several high-profile individuals, including former PSOE Secretary of Organization Santos Cerdán, as potential leaders or coordinators of these activities. Serrano's defense has challenged the legality of the initial phone seizure, arguing it occurred without explicit judicial authorization.
