Juan Orlando Hernández faces Honduran court in Pandora II case

Former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández appeared before the Supreme Court of Justice for an initial hearing in the Pandora II case. He faces accusations of fraud and money laundering.

Hernández claimed he is facing “political persecution” by the radical left of the Libertad y Refundación (Libre) party. He noted that he previously faced the United States justice system but asserted that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit issued a ruling that eliminated the charges against him.

Following a presidential pardon from Donald Trump in the United States, Hernández returned to Honduras on July 26, 2026. He is currently facing the judicial process in freedom after receiving measures other than judicial detention during a previous appearance.
