Juan Orlando Hernández to Return to Honduras on July 26

Former Honduran president Juan Orlando Hernández announced he will fly back to Honduras on Sunday, 26 July, arriving at 09:00 local time after a judge temporarily lifted a capture order and permitted his voluntary appearance.

He is scheduled to appear before a court on 3 August on charges of fraud and money laundering linked to the “Pandora II” case, which prosecutors say diverted more than 288 million lempiras (about $10.8 million) to private foundations and also implicates former president Porfirio Lobo and other officials. Hernández, who led Honduras from 2014 to 2022, was previously extradited to the United States, sentenced for drug‑trafficking offenses and later pardoned by U.S. President Donald Trump.
