Juan Pablo Duarte Games 2026 inaugurated in New York

Dominican Sports Minister Kelvin Cruz inaugurated the 2026 Juan Pablo Duarte Games in New York at George Washington School. The event brought together more than 2,000 athletes and hundreds of spectators from various New York boroughs, as well as representatives from New Jersey and Connecticut.

During the ceremony, Cruz emphasized that the games serve to strengthen the connection between the Dominican Republic and its diaspora. He noted that the initiative is being carried out with the support of President Luis Abinader. The games are dedicated to the memory of Felicia Candelario, a former sprinter and member of the Dominican sports hall of fame.
