Puebla government rolls out new security chief and multiple social projects

The governor of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta Mier, oversaw the ceremony in which Juan Ramón Corona Valencia was appointed interim coordinator of the state National Guard, succeeding Carlos Alberto Soto Muerza. The appointment is part of the capital’s ongoing security coordination with federal forces.

At the same time, the federal Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) began construction of the “México Imparable” community‑center network, targeting 100 sites that will serve up to 1,000 youths each with sports, cultural and mental‑health programs. The first 50 centers are being built in 21 states, including sites in Puebla.

The state also continued its social‑welfare drive, delivering checks for the rehabilitation of four Community Child‑Assistance Centers and the Center for Training and Development, benefitting 967 users, and completing the renovation of the Casa del Abue in San Pedro Cholula, which now offers a modern cachibol court, gardens and outdoor areas for senior citizens.

These initiatives reflect Puebla’s broader effort to combine security reforms with community‑development projects aimed at reducing violence and improving quality of life for residents.
