Juan Ramón Jiménez portrait returns to public view in Huelva
The portrait of Nobel laureate Juan Ramón Jiménez, painted by Daniel Vázquez Díaz, has been returned to public view in Huelva. The artwork is now permanently displayed in the antechamber of the Salón de Plenos at the Palacio Provincial.
The painting was ceded to the Diputación de Huelva by the Rivas Ruiz family and Pavimentos del Mar through a collaboration agreement with the Periferias Plataforma de Cultura y Sociedad. This agreement aims to preserve and promote the legacies of notable figures from the province.
This marks the first time the portrait has been accessible to the public in nearly a century, having last been exhibited in Barcelona in 1935. David Toscano, president of the Diputación, emphasized the institution's commitment to the custody of the piece, noting the cultural significance of reuniting two major Huelva figures in a single work.
