Juan Riquelme Angulo debuts for Ecuador national team

Juan Riquelme Angulo, the 18-year-old Sunderland striker, made his official debut for the Ecuador national football team during a friendly match against South Korea. Entering the pitch in the 66th minute, Angulo participated in one of Ecuador's clearest scoring opportunities, though his shot was cleared off the line by a defender.

During the match, which resulted in a 3-0 defeat for Ecuador, Angulo wore the number 13 jersey, a number previously held for several years by Ecuador's all-time leading scorer, Enner Valencia. Angulo expressed that it was an honor to wear the number and described the debut as a lifelong dream fulfilled.

Following the match, the forward noted that he is working hard to become a key striker for the national team. The debut took place under the management of Marcelo Gallardo during the team's tour in Asia.
