Juan Rulfo honored through photographic and visual arts exhibitions in Mexico

Various cultural tributes are being held in Mexico to honor the legacy of writer Juan Rulfo. At the Colegio Civil Centro Cultural Universitario, a photographic exhibition showcases Rulfo’s extensive work. Photographer Pedro Valtierra described Rulfo as ‘a poet of photography,’ noting his ability to document Mexican history, landscapes, and daily life through a vast archive of over seven thousand negatives.

In Saltillo, the collective exhibition ‘¿No oyes ladrar a los cuadros? Juan Rulfo Revisitado’ is being held at El Cerdo de Babel. Featuring more than 50 works by visual artists Alejandro Cerecero, Gustavo Adame, and José Omar Rodríguez, the show translates the atmospheres and characters of Rulfo’s literary universe, including ‘Pedro Páramo,’ into a visual medium. These events serve to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the author's death.
