Juan Soto makes MLB history as Mets celebrate Carlos Beltrán
In recent Major League Baseball action, Juan Soto made history by becoming only the fourth player to record at least 270 home runs and 100 stolen bases before turning 28, joining Alex Rodriguez, Ken Griffey Jr., and Mike Trout. Despite the New York Mets' disappointing season, Soto hit his 26th home run of the year in a 6-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Phillies secured a 7-2 win in another matchup, led by Cristopher Sánchez, who earned his 18th win of the season, the highest in the league. The victory helped Philadelphia maintain their position in the National League wild-card race.
Separately, the New York Mets honored Hall of Famer Carlos Beltrán by retiring his number 15 at Citi Field. During the ceremony, Beltrán addressed the possibility of becoming the Mets' manager, noting that while he is not ruling it out, his current priorities include his family and his baseball academy in Puerto Rico.
