Luis Abinader launches social and educational initiatives in Dominican Republic

Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader has launched several social and educational initiatives across the country. In San José de Ocoa, the government introduced the ‘Fogones por Estufas’ program through DASAC, aimed at replacing wood-burning stoves with gas stoves to improve living conditions and protect national forests. The program, which began in Rancho Arriba, includes providing gas vouchers and household appliances to vulnerable families.

In the education sector, Abinader inaugurated the Pedro Martínez Educational and Sports Complex in Manoguayabo, a project involving the Pedro Martínez Foundation and a government investment of RD$924 million. The facility is designed to serve 1,700 students with free academic and athletic training. Additionally, two new high schools were opened in the Santiago province, specifically in El Caimito and El Guano, benefiting 525 students after years of community waiting.

Major league baseball player Juan Soto attended the Pedro Martínez complex inauguration, expressing his support for Dominican youth and noting that he would decide by late December whether to play in the local LIDOM winter league.
