Juan Soto returns to Mets lineup with home run

Juan Soto has returned to the New York Mets lineup following a left calf strain that sidelined him for approximately one month. In his second game back, playing as the designated hitter against the Houston Astros, Soto hit a home run, marking his 22nd of the season and his 266th career Major League home run. The blast also brought his career RBI total to 750.

Soto’s return was notably swift, as he bypassed a minor league rehabilitation assignment despite the severity of his grade 2 calf strain. This recovery occurred ahead of the initial four-to-six-week estimate. During the game, Soto and teammate Francisco Lindor made history by hitting consecutive home runs.

Despite the offensive highlights, the Mets lost the game to the Astros with a score of 6-3. The Mets currently hold a 61-75 record and sit in last place in their division.
