Juan Soto Targeted by New York Mets in Free‑Agency Pursuit

The New York Mets posted a TikTok welcome to outfielder Juan Soto, signaling early interest in signing the four‑time All‑Star before the winter meetings. Soto, who posted a .288/.419/.569 line with 41 homers and 109 RBIs in 2024, is testing free agency after a season with the Yankees. Mets owner Steve Cohen and baseball operations chief David Stearns are positioning the club to compete with the Yankees and other large‑market teams for a record‑setting contract.

During All‑Star weekend, Soto predicted that teammate Francisco Lindor will return to the All‑Star Game next season, saying, “All of them… I know Lindor is going to be back up again.” He also dismissed rumors of tension with Lindor, noting there were “no issues last year – at all.” The Mets, currently in last place in the NL East after a 40‑57 start, hope the acquisition of Soto and a healthier lineup can reverse their struggles.
