Juanfran Pérez Llorca defends Valencian identity at Poblet meeting
The President of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, attended a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Monastery of Poblet in Tarragona, presided over by King Felipe VI. The meeting brought together political leaders from the territories that once comprised the Crown of Aragon, including representatives from Catalonia, Aragon, and the Balearic Islands.
Pérez Llorca emphasized the shared historical legacy of the Crown of Aragon as a fundamental element for understanding Spain's current autonomous model. He stated that the Valencian Community intends to contribute to the Spanish state with its own voice, respecting its history, autonomy, language, and identity, while maintaining loyalty and inter-territorial solidarity.
The gathering, which includes the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, serves as a consultative body for the conservation and promotion of the monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The event coincides with the 750th anniversary of the death of Jaume I, whose remains are interred at the monastery.
