Juanma Moreno meets Vox to discuss Andalusia coalition for third-term presidency

On Tuesday, a discreet meeting was held in the Andalusian Parliament between President Juanma Moreno (People's Party) and Vox spokesperson Manuel Gavira to negotiate a pact that would allow Moreno’s third investiture as regional president. The hour‑and‑a‑half session was conducted behind closed doors, with senior PP figures Antonio Sanz and Antonio Repullo attending alongside Moreno, while Vox sent senior operative Montse Lluis and party leader in Seville Javier Cortés.

Moreno has indicated a preference to govern alone, whereas Vox seeks a significant role in any coalition, following similar agreements previously reached in Extremadura, Aragón and Castilla‑León. The parties aim to reach a deal before the Parliament reconvenes on Thursday 11 May to elect the legislative Mesa. If no agreement is reached, Vox would be excluded from those positions, which would instead be split between the PP and the PSOE.

The regional PSOE has ruled out any abstention on Moreno’s investiture, rejecting the strategy pursued by its Extremadura counterparts and criticizing the PP’s reliance on Vox. Party leaders emphasised that the PSOE will not negotiate with the PP‑Vox arrangement, accusing the PP of abandoning dialogue with other groups.
