Juazeiro and Guará launch major literary and art festivals

The Juá Literária festival opened its second edition in Juazeiro, Bahia, with the theme “Palavras que navegam pelo tempo.” The event featured a series of cultural activities, including readings, music, poetry, and discussions that highlighted the city’s memory and identity. Local figures such as tourism director Jomar Benvindo, matriarch Dona Ovídia, and poet Valdir Lemos shared stories and traditions, while dozens of visitors, from students to adults, explored an open‑air book fair along the riverfront.

In Guará, the launch of the “Coletânea Artística do Guará” and a visual‑arts exhibition marked the opening of the city’s second Festival do Guará. The free event gathered 143 writers and 15 visual artists, presenting poems, short stories, chronicles and serigraphic artworks that reflect the region’s history and landscape. A literary salon complemented the showcase, and organizers announced a forthcoming “Calçadão Cultural” to further promote local culture.
