Juazeiro do Norte leads formal job creation in Ceará's interior

Juazeiro do Norte has emerged as the leader in formal job creation among the interior municipalities of Ceará, ranking second in the state overall, behind only Fortaleza. According to official statistics from the Novo Caged, the city recorded a positive net balance of 2,146 formal jobs between January and August 2026.

The service sector remains the largest employer in the municipality with 30,861 positions, followed by commerce with 15,550 and industry with 8,530. The growth in services is driven largely by the expansion of technology and contact center companies. In August alone, the city saw a net gain of 109 jobs, with the commerce sector leading monthly growth by adding 162 positions.

As of the end of August 2026, Juazeiro do Norte maintains a total stock of 57,133 formal jobs. This expansion reinforces the city's role as a primary economic hub in the Cariri region.
