Juazeiro religious celebrations mark centuries of devotion
In Juazeiro, Brazil, the second edition of the Canta Juazeiro com Maria event was held to celebrate the 320th anniversary of devotion to the patron saint, Nossa Senhora das Grotas. Promoted by the Diocese of Juazeiro and the local government, the event featured musical performances by artists such as Thiago Brado and included food collection efforts for the Juazeiro Sem Fome program.
In Juazeiro do Norte, the pilgrimage for Nossa Senhora das Dores is scheduled to continue until September 15. This year's festivities mark the beginning of 200 years of devotion to the saint. Organizers anticipate that more than 300,000 pilgrims will participate in the religious ceremonies and processions throughout the period.
