Jubilee Party dismisses reports of member defections to DCP

The Jubilee Party has dismissed reports of members defecting to the DCP, stating that those leaving had previously been suspended due to misconduct. In a statement attributed to Deputy Party Leader Fred Matiang’i, the party clarified that the departures should be viewed in a political context rather than as sudden defections.

Matiang’i noted that the affected individuals were suspended months ago following allegations of mismanagement, interference with party structures, and attempts to solicit money from aspirants. He emphasized that these disciplinary measures were intended to protect the integrity of the party and its democratic processes rather than serving as political retaliation.

The party further stated that some individuals holding office under the Jubilee banner had been operating outside of collective decisions and party programs for some time. Matiang’i cautioned against characterizing these moves as a mass exodus, asserting that the Jubilee Party represents a political movement rather than a vehicle for individual ambitions.
