Jude Chiemeka appointed President of African Securities Exchanges Association

Jude Chiemeka, the Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), has been appointed President of the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA). His term is set to take effect on September 30, 2026.

Chiemeka, who also serves as the chair of the West African Capital Markets Integration Council, succeeds Pierre Célestin Rwabukumba, the CEO of the Rwanda Stock Exchange. The leadership transition occurs as ASEA aims to enhance market liquidity, strengthen regional connectivity, accelerate the adoption of technology, and facilitate cross-border capital flows throughout Africa.

With over 30 years of experience in asset management, investment banking, and securities trading, Chiemeka stated that the association will focus on advocating for stronger cross-border investment frameworks and sustainable finance initiatives to unlock the continent's economic potential.
