Judge Bello Ferreras proposes reform of Dominican real estate law

Supreme Court Justice Anselmo Alejandro Bello Ferreras has proposed a reform of Law 108-05 regarding the Real Estate Registry in the Dominican Republic. During an evaluation interview with the National Council of the Magistracy, Bello Ferreras argued that the current law, which has been in effect for over two decades, is insufficient to address the complexities of the modern Dominican real estate system.

He suggested that the reform should incorporate various procedures currently scattered across different regulations to reduce the volume of unnecessary cases entering the court system. A key part of his proposal involves moving non-controversial land surveying and parcel regularization processes to administrative channels, reserving judicial intervention specifically for litigious situations where disputes exist between parties.
