Judge denies AEW and Jon Moxley request to move lawsuit to Florida

A Michigan judge has denied a request from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and professional wrestler Jon Moxley to transfer a civil lawsuit to Florida. The lawsuit was filed by Christopher Dispensa, a production crew member, alleging negligence, civil assault, and battery.

The incident allegedly occurred during a May 2023 episode of AEW Dynamite at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, where Dispensa claims Moxley pushed him to the ground during a match with Kenny Omega. Dispensa alleges the incident resulted in serious neck and shoulder injuries requiring surgery.

Wayne County Judge Catherine Heise rejected the motion to move the case, noting that the incident, the arena, and key witnesses are all located in Detroit. The judge also noted that medical witnesses from Florida could testify remotely and expressed concern regarding the complexity of an out-of-state court applying Michigan law to an incident that took place in Michigan. A second settlement conference is scheduled for December 22.
