Argentina judicial updates: triple murder and illegal land sales cases
In Florencio Varela, Federal Judge Jorge Ernesto Rodríguez has ordered the preventive detention of four individuals—Ramiro Luis Mansur, Eugenia Magdalena del Valle Quispe Gallardo, Verónica Emilce Chieto, and David Alberto Godoy—for their alleged involvement in a triple homicide and drug trafficking. The victims were Brenda del Castillo, Morena Verdi, and Lara Gutiérrez, who were kidnapped, tortured, and killed in September 2025. The judge also imposed 1,000 million peso liens on each of the accused. María Inés Olivera was released due to insufficient evidence.
In La Plata, Judge Marcela Garmendia has ordered preventive detention for Francisco Alberto Vila Basualdo, head of Grupo Delsud, his ex-wife Eugenia Martínez, and Nadia Antonella Lima. They are accused of multiple counts of fraud related to the Sophenia and Garden real estate developments. The prosecution alleges that buyers were misled into purchasing undivided interests in large plots of land under the guise of individual, buildable lots without proper urban planning authorizations.
Additionally, legal proceedings are advancing in other high-profile cases, including the trial for the Barracas massacre involving Justo Fernando Barrientos, and the investigation into the disappearance of rural teacher Nancy Godoy in Corrientes.
