Judicial Commission addresses disturbance at Pati District Court

The Judicial Commission (KY) has expressed concern regarding a disturbance at the Pati District Court involving an individual identified as Supriyono, also known as Botok. According to KY spokesperson Anita Kadir, the incident included intimidation and the splashing of water at a court spokesperson, alongside allegations that a judge had accepted a bribe of Rp1 billion.

KY officials characterized these actions as potentially undermining the honor and dignity of the judiciary, describing the behavior as “misbehaving in court” and an attack on the court’s integrity and impartiality. The commission is coordinating with the Pati District Court regarding the case, which is scheduled to continue proceedings until October 16.

In response to the incident, the Judicial Commission is urging the effective implementation of Supreme Court Regulations Number 5 and 6 of 2020 concerning the Court and Trial Security System to ensure judges can perform their duties independently and without intimidation.
