Judicial reforms and administrative updates in Mali and Gabon

In Mali, the Council of Ministers, chaired by General Assimi Goïta, has adopted a draft law to reform the status of magistrates. This initiative aims to harmonize the rights and obligations of judges with those of other civil servants under the Social Stability and Growth Pact. Key changes include providing magistrates with retirement benefits and ensuring remuneration during mandatory military service.

In Gabon, the Superior Council of the Magistracy (CSM) is scheduled to convene on September 16 in Port-Gentil. The session, presided over by the President of the Court of Cassation, Bosco Alaba Fall, will address judicial appointments, promotions, and disciplinary matters. The council is expected to rule on cases involving magistrates who previously faced sanctions ranging from reprimands to temporary exclusion or revocation.
