Dominican Republic court orders prison for attempted feminicide suspect
A court in the Dominican Republic has ordered three months of preventive prison for Florencio Lorenzo Lorenzo, who is accused of attempted aggravated feminicide.
The incident occurred on the night of September 2 in the Los Guandules sector. Following reports of violence to the 9-1-1 emergency system, National Police officers arrived at the residence and were forced to break down a door to enter. Upon entering, they rescued a woman, identified as Y. S., who was being attacked.
According to the Public Ministry, Lorenzo Lorenzo attacked the victim with a hammer, striking her in the head and causing serious injury. He allegedly attempted to prevent her from seeking help using a cloth soaked in formaldehyde and subsequently tried to strangle her. During a search of the suspect's vehicle, authorities seized a machete and a coffin, which the victim claims are linked to previous threats.
