Judicial workers in Argentina and Mexico protest labor conditions
Judicial workers in La Pampa, Argentina, and Hidalgo, Mexico, are raising alarms regarding deteriorating labor conditions and job insecurity within their respective judicial systems.
In La Pampa, the Sindicato de Trabajadores Judiciales (SITRAJ) has formally requested urgent intervention from the Superior Tribunal de Justicia. The union warned of risks to the physical and mental health of staff working in Civil Defender's Offices, citing excessive workloads, poor building conditions, and inadequate workspace distribution. SITRAJ has called for psychological evaluations for all employees in the area to address these concerns.
In Hidalgo, Mexico, employees of the Poder Judicial de la Federación (PJF) have threatened strikes following proposed changes to job assignments and permanence evaluations. Union leader Marcos García Solís noted that of the approximately 600 employees in the 29th Circuit, 200 lack permanent status. Workers expressed concern that new reassignment policies could move specialized staff, such as those with postgraduate degrees in criminal law, to unrelated areas like labor courts without regard for their expertise.
