Judit Varga sells former Balaton property

Former Justice Minister Judit Varga has sold the house in Balatonheny that she previously co-owned with Péter Magyar. The property, which was built in 2017, was listed for 299 million forints during the summer and has recently been purchased by an elderly couple from Budapest.

The residence was previously a subject of public and political interest due to a 10 million forint family home creation subsidy (CSOK) taken out by the couple in 2017. Because the property was officially classified as a holiday home rather than a primary residence, Varga repaid the subsidy to the state treasury in 2023.

The 233 square meter house sits on a nearly 2,000 square meter lot and features modern amenities, including a solar power system, smart home technology, heat pump heating, and two custom ceramic stoves. Following the couple's divorce in 2023 and subsequent asset division, the property had remained under Varga's ownership.
