Judita transferred from Sučany prison following 2019 murder conviction

Judita, a woman convicted of the 2019 murder of her 16-year-old friend Tomáš, has been transferred from the juvenile detention center in Sučany. She is currently serving a sentence of 12 years and four months.

The crime occurred in May 2019 in a residential area of Žilina, where Tomáš sustained at least 49 stab and cut wounds. Although Judita has consistently denied her involvement—claiming an unknown man posing as an electricity meter reader attacked the boy—the Žilina District Court found her guilty in November 2020. This verdict was later upheld by the Regional Court and the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic.

During her time in Sučany, Judita followed an educational program and participated in various activities, including working in the kitchen. While the specific location of her new placement has not been disclosed, prison officials noted that inmates have the right to request a transfer based on various factors, including the institution's focus, the inmate's needs, and security considerations.
