JUDU warns of fake QR codes and SMS scams targeting Lithuanian drivers

JUDU has issued a warning that scammers are using counterfeit QR codes on parking meters and fraudulent SMS messages that appear to come from JUDU to steal money and banking data. The agency stresses that it never asks for parking payments via QR code scans and that the only legitimate QR code it uses is displayed inside public transport for passenger surveys. Payments can be made only through the official JUDU app, a specific SMS number, or the m.Parking app.

JUDU’s client‑value development director Jurgita Gaidienė said, “JUDU never asks to pay for parking by scanning a QR code.” The Lithuanian Post’s Business Resilience Department warned that scammers also impersonate post employees and increasingly use AI‑generated deep‑fake voices. Residents and visitors are urged to report any suspicious QR codes or messages to JUDU’s customer service centre and to verify payment methods on official channels only.
