Judy Sheindlin, the television personality widely known as Judge Judy, has announced her retirement from onscreen work after 30 years in courtroom television. Sheindlin, 83, appeared on ‘Good Morning America’ to discuss her transition from being in front of the camera to working behind the scenes.

Her current series, ‘Judy Justice,’ which airs on Amazon Prime Video, is scheduled to air its series finale on October 22. Sheindlin’s television career includes 25 years on her namesake series, ‘Judge Judy,’ which premiered in 1996 and became a major ratings success.

Sheindlin intends to continue her creative work as an executive producer. One of her primary upcoming projects is ‘Adam’s Law,’ a court series led by her son, Adam Levy. Sheindlin noted that she is moving toward a different form of creativity, describing the shift as becoming the ‘Benjamin Button of court.’
