Judy Sheindlin marks 30 years in TV and announces retirement
Television personality Judy Sheindlin, known as Judge Judy, is marking 30 years in syndicated television and preparing to retire from on-camera courtroom work. She plans to hand the bench to her son, Adam Levy, while transitioning into new projects such as an animated series titled ‘Judyverse’.
In recent interviews with USA Today and W Magazine, Sheindlin shared her views on American society and her decades of experience. She defended capitalism and entrepreneurship, stating that the United States is the ‘greatest country in the world’ and suggesting that those who wish to fundamentally change its system should ‘go somewhere else’. She also expressed a sense of nostalgia for the social order and personal responsibility she associates with the 1950s.
Reflecting on her legal career, Sheindlin detailed the physical cues she uses to identify dishonesty in the courtroom. She noted that women may exhibit facial flushing, while men often display sweat on the upper lip or facial twitches. She also emphasized that avoiding eye contact is a common indicator of deception. To celebrate her career, CBS aired a 90-minute primetime special titled ‘Judge Judy: Unfiltered, Unforgettable’.
