Jugend am Werk Kärnten celebrates 70 years of vocational training

Jugend am Werk Kärnten is celebrating 70 years of providing vocational training and social integration support for young people in Carinthia, Austria. The organization assists approximately 500 youths annually through various training and educational measures designed to facilitate the transition from school to professional life.

Operating in Klagenfurt, Wolfsberg, and Villach, the institution manages its own catering businesses, canteens, and workshops. These facilities allow participants to gain practical experience in diverse fields, including gastronomy, wood, metal, ceramics, creative and media design, horticulture, and e-commerce. The program also provides instruction in financial literacy and social competencies.

Funding for the organization is provided through a combination of sources: the Arbeitsmarktservice (AMS) Kärnten contributes 1 million euros annually, the state of Carinthia provides 500,000 euros per year, and the institution generates approximately 500,000 euros through its own commercial operations. Currently, about 60 percent of participants successfully find employment or further training through the program.
