Juha Viitala criticizes rising unemployment in Satakunta

Social Democratic Party (SDP) Member of Parliament Juha Viitala has expressed serious concern regarding the rising unemployment rates in the Satakunta region. According to data from the Southwest Finland Center for Economic Development, there were approximately 11,000 unemployed job seekers in Satakunta at the end of August, an increase of nearly 850 compared to the previous year.

Viitala criticized the Orpo government, noting that while the administration promised 100,000 new jobs, Finland's employment development has been among the weakest in Europe in recent years. He argued that the government's labor market policies have prioritized ideological goals and the weakening of workers' positions over fostering economic growth and employment.

To address the situation, Viitala proposed several SDP-backed measures, including making it easier for small and medium-sized enterprises to hire their first employees, supporting SME growth, establishing new adult education supports, and implementing actions to promote the employment of the long-term unemployed.
