Juiz de Fora begins inspections for drainage and sewage works

Authorities in Juiz de Fora have begun precautionary inspections of properties and lots located within the Santa Luzia Creek Basin. These inspections are a prerequisite for upcoming drainage and sewage system works designed to improve urban infrastructure and mitigate flood impacts.

The inspection process will be conducted in three distinct stages. The first stage begins in the Graminha neighborhood, specifically on Rua Eugênio de Souza Lima and Avenida Joaquim Vicente Guedes. The second stage will focus on the area surrounding a planned rainwater detention reservoir in the Teixeiras neighborhood, covering Avenida Maria de Almeida Silva, Rua Erci Furtado de Souza, and Rua Emereciano Villela. The final stage will take place in the Santa Luzia neighborhood along the creek margins, including Rua Ibitiguaia and Avenida Santa Luzia.

Project teams from the Consórcio Macrodrenagem Santa Luzia will be conducting the site visits, while social work teams from EMCASA are engaging with residents to provide guidance and information. The planned interventions include expanding drainage structures, constructing a rainwater control reservoir, and upgrading the local sewage system to increase water runoff capacity.
