Juiz de Fora begins taxi permit renewal process
The City Hall of Juiz de Fora has begun the renewal process for taxi permits linked to Public Tender No. 005/2009. This Monday marks the start of a phase where approximately 40 permit holders can renew their authorizations this year. By 2028, the city plans to have renewed a total of 102 permits.
Currently, the municipality operates a fleet of 626 taxis, including vehicles driven by permit holders and assistants. Those who meet all requirements can secure an extension for an additional 16 years. To maintain service, permit holders must adhere to annual inspections and periodic vehicle renewals.
Interested parties must submit documentation to the Urban Mobility Secretariat (SMU) via the ‘Prefeitura Ágil’ online platform. Required documents include valid vehicle inspections, identification, driver's licenses (CNH and Taxi Driver's Card), proof of residence, negative certificates, vehicle documentation, and proof of mandatory insurance. In-person assistance is also available at the SMU taxi sector located at the Miguel Mansur Bus Terminal.
