Jujuy appoints first Environmental Ambassador for plastic recycling project

In Jujuy, Argentina, Alejandra Belén Aramayo from San Antonio has been named the first Environmental Ambassador during the 75th National Students' Festival. She was selected for her project, “RE-CIRCULAR: De desecho a recurso. Jóvenes que transforman plástico en conciencia,” developed by students at Bachillerato Provincial N.º 17 “General Manuel Belgrano.” The initiative addresses plastic bottle accumulation in public spaces through a four-stage process: sensitization, collection, transformation, and reuse. Collected materials are intended to be repurposed into items such as brooms, baskets, and planters.

Complementing these efforts, educational initiatives in the province are targeting early childhood development. At Jardín Maternal Nº 62, children as young as two years old participate in pedagogical projects focused on waste classification and environmental care. This program, part of the provincial “Circulando Energía” contest promoted by the Ministry of Education, uses discarded materials to create musical instruments and educational tools, integrating environmental awareness with music and physical education.
