Jujuy accident: Two women dead after vehicle plunges 80 meters

A family vacation in Jujuy, Argentina, turned tragic after their rented Toyota SW4 plunged 80 meters down a ravine at Cuesta del Lipán on National Route 52. The accident resulted in two fatalities.

Silvia Rosana Amaro, 58, died at the scene. Her daughter, Lorena Paola González, 33, passed away at the Hospital Pablo Soria in San Salvador de Jujuy after being diagnosed with brain death following severe head and abdominal trauma.

The other three occupants—Narciso González, 60; Favio Hernán González, 31; and Augusto Coda, 34—were injured in the crash but are reported to be in stable condition. The family, originally from Alejandro Korn in Buenos Aires province, had been traveling through Salta and Jujuy for tourism.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident, focusing on whether mechanical failure, road conditions, or driver error led to the loss of control on the steep, winding mountain road.
